Gravity feed guns, like the Xtra Power XP-SG-990 paint sprayer, get most of their paint supply from gravity. Gravity feed spray guns produce an atomized mist at higher velocities and lower pressure than typical HVLP guns because of the control valve. Because HVLP does not drip from the gun, the idea is to be able to spray more with minimal overspray and have a clearer coat.
